Nadia Katsanou

Personal Information

Co-coordinator of EUROPE (CEPT) Network of Women for ITU WRC, Senior Scientific Expert in Spectrum (EETT). 

Nadia is a Scientific Expert in Telecommunications and Spectrum at the Greek Regulator, EETT. She is serving the telecom sector in various positions for 25 years. Currently, she has been appointed as one of the co-coordinators of the CEPT (Europe) Network of Women for World Radio Conference (ITU-R initiative). She is also co-chairing the Subgroup on WRC-23 for the EC, preparing the Final Opinion for EU-positions on Agenda Items of WRC-23 with relevance to EU-policies in order to assist the European Commission in formulating proposals for a Council Decision. In her engagements are 5G issues (roll-out of 5G networks, member of the EETT’s team for preparing the auction of 5G spectrum bands, participating at EU subgroups and several European initiatives dealing with 5G), preparation work for the World Radiocommunications Conference 2023 (WRC-23 ITU-R).

She has also served as an advisor to the General Secretary of Telecommunications and Post (GGTT), for policy matters concerning spectrum issues (responsible for the elaboration of the National 5G roadmap for Greece, ITU and WRC’s, Digital Dividends, International spectrum coordination, C-ITS (CAD – automated and connected driving), ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2018 and World Radiocommunications Conference -19). Jointly with ITU, she was in charge of the co-organization of the ITU Forum “Towards 5G Enabled Gigabit Society“, held in Athens, 11 – 12 October 2018. This forum focused on opportunities related to 5G and challenges to be addressed in infrastructure roll-out, spectrum management, and broadcasting. While referring to the vision of turning Europe into a Gigabit Society by 2025.

She was for several years a member of the European Commission network «TEAM EUROPE» representing electronic communications in Greece. She has been the Initiator and partner of the Grand Coalition « Women and Girls Go Digital in Greece ». She is a cooperative researcher -expert in R&D projects focused on telecommunications and advanced, communications technologies and services at the National Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos” (NCSR “D”), Netmedia Laboratory. She has also worked for several years on R&D projects, coordinator, and technical responsible. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Paris in Expert Systems and a Ph.D. grant from the JRC Euratom Center on Distributed Artificial Intelligence.

Susanne Mikhail

Personal Information

Susanne is the Regional Director of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women for the Arab States. In this capacity, she leads UN Women’s normative, program and coordination work in the Middle East and North Africa.

Susanne brings with her over 20 years of experience in development and humanitarian work in the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. Before joining UN-Women, she was Director of Humanitarian Assistance at the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), managing SIDA´s single largest budget, covering over 25 countries, including Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Palestine, Syria, and Yemen.

With a long experience from the UN system, including being the Resident Program Coordinator of UNICEF in South Sudan as well as the UNICEF Regional Office for South Asia, and UNICEFs Office for Emergency Operations, her experience from some of the most fragile settings including active conflicts, includes both humanitarian works as well as programs gearing towards accelerating the transition to development. She has also supported World Bank’s programs on economic development in fragile settings. In 1999, Susanne started her international career at the Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. Susanne is a national of Sweden and Egypt and holds a Master of Arts Degree in Political Science from the Uppsala University of Sweden.

Rima Karaki

Personal Information

Rima is a senior media professional from Lebanon, ranked among the Top 40 Women to Rule the World by Mashable in 2015. Rima won The Best Arabian Media Person and Best Arab Journalist by the Journalism and Media Club in Kuwait in 2016 and The Most Creative Arabian Eyes by the Arabian Mind Association in Baghdad, Iraq in 2017.

By working in media for many years Rima has shed the light on ignored social and economic issues and challenges in the Middle East region and found solutions for them. Rima is known for her innovative approaches in shows’ preparation and production; she has conducted many memorable interviews with elite personalities from around the world and won multiple awards for her successful TV shows.

Grete Gutmann

Personal Information

Grete Gutmann is the Head of the Start-up Team in Civitta. Grete has worked with start-ups in various development stages – from ideation and pre-acceleration to advanced start-ups in the scaling phases. Grete has previously been in charge of coordinating CEED Tech, the initiative that invested in and accelerated 80 start-ups in the CEE region. She has experience in working together with Business Angel Networks in establishing the Nordic Angel Program concept (lead angel training) in the Nordic & Baltic region and currently she is managing the New Nordic Leads start-up training program with the aim of increasing the investment readiness of the companies involved in the program.

Additionally, she has been the project manager for the large-scale project Altfinatorwww.altfinator.eu that had the aim of improving innovative SMEs’ access to alternative forms of financing in Europe.
