Stefan Schleuning

Personal Information

Mr. Schleuning started his assignment as Head of Unit at the Service for Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI) in November 2020. His Unit FPI.4 is in charge of Industrialised Countries and Foreign Policy Support. Prior to that, he was Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation in Kyiv/Ukraine. Mr. Schleuning joined the EU in 1999 and has worked on postings in Brussels, Eastern Europe, East Africa, and South-East Asia. He holds a master’s degree in history and Slavonic Studies from Heidelberg University and is a fluent English, French and Russian speaker.

Franz Fayot

Personal Information

Education and qualifications: Following secondary school studies at the Athénée de Luxembourg, Franz Fayot pursued higher education in Luxembourg and Paris, followed by a DEA (post-graduate diploma of advanced studies) in corporate law from the Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne in 1996.

Governmental posts: Following the cabinet reshuffle on 4 February 2020, Franz Fayot joined the coalition government formed by the Democratic Party (DP), the Luxembourg Socialist Workers’ Party (LSAP), and the Green Party (déi gréng). He was appointed Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs and Minister of the Economy.

Other political posts: A member of the LSAP since 1994, Franz Fayot became chairman of the LSAP in 2019. Franz Fayot was elected to Parliament in 2013 and in 2018, a candidate for the LSAP in the constituency of the Centre. In Parliament, he assumed the role of rapporteur for the draft budget for 2015 and focused on public finances, cultural policy, as well as on social justice and poverty issues.

Professional activities: From 1997 until his appointment to the government, Franz Fayot worked as a barrister in Luxembourg.

Sheikha Alanoud Hamad Al-Thani

Personal Information

Sheikha Alanoud bint Hamad Al-Thani is the Managing Director of Business Development at the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) Authority since 2017. Previously, she held the roles of Vice President of Strategic Alliances, CEO Office, and Associate Director of Economic Affairs for the MENA region.

Prior to joining the QFC, Alanoud served as the Qatar Country Director for Silatech, a Qatar-based social initiative that connects young people to employment opportunities across the Arab region. She has also held other positions working with various UN agencies and international organizations specializing in issues covering economic development, focusing on education, private sector development, and youth employment. She has authored numerous reports on the subject matter. Alanoud has been a board member of a number of organizations, including Vice-Chair for the Bedaya Centre for Entrepreneurship and Career Guidance, Tomouh, How Women Work, i2Co School of Transformative Leadership, Qatar-UK Alumni Board – British Council, and Future Foreign Policy in the UK. She is currently a Global Ambassador for Qatar for Women Entrepreneurship Day and a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers Community.
